10th Annual Holiday Party

One of my fondest childhood memories is cruising down Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena with my family oh so many years ago. As many of you know, Santa Rosa Avenue--which the street is called during the rest of the year--is lined with with majestic, 100-year-old Deodar cedars, and the city has decorated them with old-fashioned Christmas lights for nearly a century. It's truly a spectacular scene.
When I had the chance to buy my beautiful house (although in horrible disrepair) on Santa Rosa in 1999, I jumped at it because not only was the architecture and lot very appealing, but the opportunity to relive such a special time of my youth was irresistible. It became clear to me that I just had to share this beautiful holiday tradition with my friends. So that's how my Christmas party began. It started with about 40 people and has grown to more than 200.
About eight years ago I started collecting children's gift donations at my party for the Charles Cherniss Tournament of Toys. Charles and his wife Maggie have been good friends of mine forever, and they started this wonderful charity more than 30 years ago. The Charles Cherniss Tournament of Toys collects and distributes the gifts to less fortunate children in our city. Although Charles has since passed away, the charity remains in full force.
My Holiday party is a cherished event that allows me to invite into my home friends and clients for some well-deserved holiday cheer. It is a unique gathering of many different types of people, and it's always a pleasure for me to hear about the laughter shared, connections made, and friendships rekindled. It is truly a highlight of my year to be able to get everyone together.
